Bargain and sale between Robert, earl of Essex and Ewe, viscount Hereford and Bourchier, lord Ferrers of Chartley, lord Bourchier and Louvan, William Wingfield of the parish of St. Clement Danes (Midd.), esq., and William Firth of Merrevalle (Warwicks.), gentleman, of the one part; and Francis Powell of Lantphey (Pembroks.), gentleman, of the other part; for the sum of £350 of all that messuage or tenement with its appurtenances in East Hooke (Pembroks.), now or late in the tenure or occupation of Richard Eynon; with all that meadow containing 126 acres and also all that tenement in West Hooke, now or late in the tenure or occupation of one Mark Boulton; and all the tithe and interest of the said earl of Essex in and to the coal mines in the tenure or occupation of Lewis Powell, esq., father of the said Francis, containing 31 acres; with all coal mines that now are or shall be upon the premisses, etc., in the parishes of Langham and Frestrop, now in the tenures of Richard Eynon, Mark Boulton, and Lewis Powell. Endorsed with a note of enrollment on the Close Roll, 12 November [1624]. Attached to the indenture is a paper note summarizing the terms of the bargain and sale, signed "Wm. Fryth."
